Since quarrelling with the Chairman of PKB's Advisory Board, Abdurrahman Wahid, on the position of Syaifullah Yusuf as PKB Secretary-General, the kiai continue their political reawakening. For example, they held "The 1,000 Kiai Meeting" at the Asshiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School, Batu Ceper, Tangerang. They discussed many issues, but the main agenda of the meeting was to mobilize power to refuse Wahid's nomination for president. They also wanted to be involved in preparing the list of candidates for the legislature. In short, the political passion among them is now overflowing. What has encouraged this phenomenon?
