THE weak implementation of air traffi c regulations at Soekarno-Hatta airport has been blamed for the Sukhoi tragedy on May 9. The operators have generally been viewed as neglecting their duties. Just hours after the fatal crash on Mount Salak a meeting was hurriedly held to prepare answers for the National Air Transportation Safety Committee’s investigation. The blame has been placed on the pilot. Yet questions remain on the role of the air traffic controllers in the tragedy which claimed 45 souls.
