Sects and the City

      THEY are young, wealthy, have luxury cars, and live in posh apartments. Who would ever think that living an affluent life, these urban young people diligently visit such spiritually soothing places as mosques, religious schools, and other places of worship. These young executives learn from their teachers how to become pious adherents. This is a phenomenon that has been dubbed “urban Sufi sm”. Some simply dabble in the study of Islamic mysticism. Others take religious action to try and get closer to God. Tempo reports on this increasingly popular trend.
