Power Sharing

IT seems clear that almost all political parties are now trying to get close to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who was reelected President last July. There seems to be a scramble for a share of the power after Yudhoyono’s party tried to court the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). The party which won third place at the recent legislative election received a number of offers, among them, the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) speakership to PDI-P leading figure and husband of Megawati Soekarnoputri, Taufiq Kiemas. The PDI-P, symbolized by a bull, reportedly will also receive three ministerial posts.
