Where the Stealing Never Stops

Where the Stealing Never Stops THE role of Golkar Party Chairman Setya Novanto comes up loud and clear in the grand larceny case of the Rp5.7 trillion electronic ID card project. His name is cited in the court trying this case, and he is suspected of plotting to gain from this massive project right from the very beginning. But he is not alone. To ensure the smooth flow of funds, he had to pay off scores of people, among them 50 lawmakers in the DPR, tens of senior government officials, specifically in the Home Affairs Ministry and businessmen. When we think nothing could be worse than the last case of embezzlement, something in the massive scale of the e-KTP scandal comes along. Law: Threats to Religious Freedom AHMAD Musaddeq, the spiritual leader of the Gerakan Fajar Nusantara (Gafatar) or National Dawn Movement, was sentenced to five years in prison for blasphemy. Two of his associates, Mahful Muis and Andri Cahya, were also found guilty of the same crime. Ironically, the three were acquitted on the first charge of treason, attempting to overthrow the government. The verdict is another proof that religious freedom has yet to be widely accepted, despite its constitutional guarantee. Outreach: Traditional Versus Tech Games ONLINE games are so pervasive that even Indonesian children in rural areas now prefer to fiddle with their gadgets instead of playing traditional games that stimulate motor skills and sociability. People concerned with the vanishing of a cultural heritage have formed a movement to revive traditional games. Tempo English reports from South Kalimantan and West Sumatra, on the efforts of local community groups to revive traditional games, as a means to preserve tradition and counter addiction to tech games.
