THE letter came as a shock to Megawati Soekarnoputri, chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P). It was a summons for her to appear before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as a witness. The KPK had linked Mega to members of her party who are being charged for their involvement in the traveler’s checks bribery case. This enraged party cadres. They saw this as a political step to discredit their leader, Megawati, and their party.
