The city of Cartagena in Colombia was the last escape for fugitive M. Nazaruddin, the former Democrat Party treasurer who fled the country last May. Two weeks ago, the local police collaborating with Interpol, arrested Nazaruddin. On Friday last week, he was flown back and arrived in Jakarta, amid heavy security. He will face charges of bribery in relation to the construction of an athletes’ dormitory for the upcoming SEA Games, and other corruption cases.
