FROM the very start, the investigation of this case has been hal earted at best. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono did say the solution to this case would be a “test of our nation’s history”. But he only decided to set up a fact-finding team after intense media pressure, and serious investigation only began in 2007 following a loud international uproar. Today, the masterminds of that contemptible murder remain free and unpunished.
