THE special investigator in the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) case, Urip Tri Gunawan, was caught red-handed in possession of US$660,000 (around Rp6 billion) as he was leaving the residence of Sjamsul Nursalim, a former defendant in the case. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is convinced it was a bribe provided by Sjamsul. The KPK also suspects it was only a portion of the money that flowed to BLBI case prosecutors in the graft case that caused state losses of around Rp146 trillion.
