THE world was horrified at the sight of thousands of civilian victims in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israel’s indiscriminate attacks. There is a heavy price to pay for the action. In two weeks, more than 3,200 civilians have been wounded and 780 killed. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 42 percent of the victims are children. In Jabaliya, the children were killed during a single strike. In the aftermath of Jabaliya, the UN took a tougher stance, calling for an investigation by an independent team. But the UN only passed a resolution two weeks after the fighting began. This is too late.
