BANK INDONESIA—On the Remake
SUSPICIONS of bribery by Bank Indonesia of members of the House of Representatives (DPR) have been heard for some time. In 2003, Rp31.5 billion in BI funds was found to have ended up in the DPR. Allegedly the money was part of a project to improve the central bank’s image which had been tarnished after three of its top officials went on trial for graft linked to the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance program. The bank fully defended its officials, spending a total of Rp100 billion on the project. Who benefited from the funds? Read the results of Tempo’s investigation.
