WITH the 2009 General Elections on the horizon, a number of presidential candidates are busy making preparations. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who declared he would run again as a presidential hopeful, has a number of generals ready to devise his strategy. Golkar-supported Jusuf Kalla has reactivated the Lembang 9 group which in 2004 backed his bid for vice president. What is still uncertain is whether Yudhoyono and Kalla will team up again in the next election. Their challengers are no less busy. They include Megawati, the Sultan of Yogyakarta, Wiranto, and Prabowo, among others.
