THE House of Representatives is fuming. They are questioning the capital injection from the Savings Guarantee Board (LPS) intended to salvage Bank Century. At first it was agreed that the injection would be only Rp1.3 trillion but later the amount increased to Rp6.7 trillion. Vice President Jusuf Kalla feels he has been bypassed. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani insists that the entire procedure was in line with the LPS Law. The amount of the bailout is precisely in accordance with the result of Bank Indonesia’s estimation. The Supreme Audit Agency is now ready to conduct an investigative audit.
