THE project to produce electronic ID cards or e-KTP has fallen short of expectations and efficiency. The rotten smell of corruption and contrivance has permeated out of its tender process. The companies failing to bid in the Rp5.9 trillion project are now crying foul play. On the ground, test cases have produced less than satisfactory results. It turns out that the bidding on this high-cost project reportedly involved many people, friends of the Home Affairs Ministry and Golkar Party Treasurer Setya Novanto.
