Crackdown! AUTHORITIES continue to fi ght an uphill battle against drug traffi ckers in Jakarta. The latest shootout occurred at a neighborhood called Berlan in East Jakarta, during which two members of the police force were killed following a raid. Berlan is one of the city’s neighborhoods that have become notorious dens of drug dealing and narcotics-related crimes. Perhaps it is time authorities take a different approach on how to turn these dens of iniquity into law-abiding communities. National: Is There A Future For Gafatar? THE Nusantara Dawn Movement, better known as Gafatar, is charged with deviant teachings, one of which is naming Ahmad Mushadeq as their savior. Authorities say Gafatars use their unique agriculture system as a ruse as the next step to establish a separate state in Kalimantan. Can the movement survive amid current suspicions and intolerance? The maritime affairs and fi sheries ministry say there are around 12.2 million people in the fishing industry, including catching, cultivating and processing of seafood products. However, the People’s Coalition for Fisheries Justice (KIARA) say that 70 percent of them are women living below the poverty line on coastal areas.
