Trial By Fire

Trial By Fire THE panel of judges at the North Jakarta State Court found former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) guilty of blasphemy and convicted him to a two-year immediate prison sentence. The verdict goes against the prosecutor’s finding that no blasphemy had been proven and that it had demanded a suspended prison sentence. Ahok has appealed. What kind of political pressure was behind this unusual conviction? National: Should Hardline Group HTI Be Banned?
