POLICE Chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri was a ‘no-show’ at three important official events: the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed regional police chiefs, the House of Representatives’ (DPR) 17 August plenary session, and the awarding of the Mahaputra Medal of Honor at the Presidential Palace. It’s no secret that the National Police Force has been under the spotlight for a number of questionable cases, from the non-existent recording they claimed to have had on the KPK over the justice mafia case, to the ‘fat’ bank accounts attributed to senior police officers, and the infighting between his own officers for the right man to take over the top job.
