ALTHOUGH the DPR in its plenary session had clearly instructed the government to go after the remaining Bank Century assets, law enforcement action on this has been dismal. The dispute over Century’s US$156 million deposit in Dresdner Bank, Zurich, is stark evidence of this missed opportunity. Neither the Attorney General’s Office, the Foreign Ministry nor the management of Bank Mutiara—Bank Century’s new name— ever submitted a claim on that money. Why not?
