STATE Secretary Yusril Ihza Mahendra and Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Taufiequrachman Ruki are reportedly in the middle of a war of words. It began when the KPK questioned Yusril as a witness in the alleged corruption case over the procurement of fingerprinting equipment for the Justice & Legal Affairs Department (now the Justice & Human Rights Department). Yusril led the Department at the time the contract was signed in December 2004. The Rp18.48- billion procurement was suspected to have been marked up by around Rp6 billion. The directly appointed vendor was PT Sentral Filindo. How far and deep is Yusril’s involvement?
