Prison Cell or Public Tribunal?
THE panel of judges in the trial of former president Suharto decided to throw in the towel in the landmark case. They considered his illness permanent, and the defendant to be unfit for trial. At the same time, the Supreme Court meted out an arrest order for the imprisonment of his son Tommy' in the Bulog corruption scandal. Does this mean Suharto is pardoned, but his family and cronies still have to pay?
