A NUMBER of questions arose as soon as Hutomo Mandala Putra, alias Tommy Suharto, was conditionally released from prison. Sentenced to 10 years for planning the murder of Supreme Court Justice Syafiuddin Kartasasmita, Tommy only stayed in prison "briefly," after benefitingfrom a generous 38 months and 15 days of remission a remission record.How was this possible? Is it normal for the convicted murderer of a judge to receive so much remission?
