AFTER a respite of almost four years, Jakarta was staggered by terrorist bombings at the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in the Mega Kuningan business area. Nine people died, including two suspected of being the perpetrators, and at least 60 were injured. It was two direct hits on Friday morning last week. How was the Marriott, which was bombed in 2003, caught offguard again? And were the perpetrators linked to previous acts of terror, or are they a new ‘breed’ altogether?
