THE issue of the Lapindo mudflow is now reverberating at the House of Representatives (DPR). The DPR plenary meeting held last week decided to seek an explanation from the President before concluding the cause of the mudflow disaster in Sidoarjo, East Java. From various data, documents, and information that Tempo has gathered, indications are that Lapindo Brantas Inc, a business unit of the Bakrie Group, failed in its drilling procedure and is responsible for the disaster. But high-level intrigue is at play in the DPR.
